  1. Don't miss the Willows Spa

The Willows Spa at Fairmont Scottsdale is undoubtedly one of the top spas in Arizona. Don't miss the water fall treatment designed after Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. This facility replicates a Grand Canyon experience AND adds world-class amenities.
    Just do it!

  3. Great Half Day Hike for Mother & Daughter

During a recent vacation to Arizona (from Florida) I booked a half-day guided tour/hike with this company in the South Mountains of the Scottsdale area. My 10 year old daughter & I thoroughly enjoyed the hike we did of the 'Mormon Trail'. Our guide was very friendly, very accomadating and also very knowlegable about the terrain that we were going to encounter and all of the facts of the desert.
My daughter came away with a different opinion about the desert, and I came away with a refreshed outlook after being 'away from it all' while on the hike -a real connection to nature.
Our guide provided backpacks with water, snacks for the hike & walking sticks that came in handy. She was willing to go at our (somewhat inexperienced) pace, so it made it both a challenge and 'no pressure'.
When I return to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, I will definately contact 'Take A Hike Arizona' to arrange a hike of a different area.

  4. Hit and Miss at True Food Kitchen

I love the concept and the healthy food choices; however, the serving sizes are extremely small.

Our server was a 5 on a scale of 1-10. He wasn't on top of his game.

My husband and I ordered the hummas appetizer to share and it was fantastic!!! Howerver, we had to ask for more pita.

We also shared the chopped greek salad. Now this is a $12 salad and we each got enough salad to fit into the palm of our hand. Even if I was not splitting this salad and had a full order it would be considered very small!

We also split an entree. We had the buttersquash raviolis. Again good flavor; however, we each got 2 raviolis. Seriously who can get full on 4 raviolis????

There were 3 ladies sitting next to us and they felt the same about there meal. They would recommend the soup and the apple crumb dessert. It was a nice portion.

So if I ate at True Food in Scottsdale again I would get the hummas, soup and the apple crumb dessert.

We did have a celebrity sighting while we were there. We saw Big from Sex in the City! That was cool.

  5. Authentic Italian treats!

We visited the new location for That's Amore. I believe this is their 2nd location to open. This one is located in a great spot off of Hayden Rd right by the greenbelt (bike/walking path) and by the pond. So if you sit outside, you can enjoy some people watching and a nice view of the pond, ducks, and Camelback. I brought my 2 kids in, who had never had gelato before. They were able to try a few out before selecting their "cookie" flavor of course. I would have preferred something a little more decadent, but they are kids afterall. I treated myself to a white chocolate mocha. We are definitely not talking Starbucks here (which I do love), but this latte brought back fond memories of the real thing in Italy! The foam was so thick, you could stand a stirrer straight up! The coffee was excellent! I can't wait to go for a bike ride with the family and make a stop here for a well deserved treat again!"

  6. Frosted perfection

There are few things more perfect than a Sprinkles red velvet cupcake. This moist and delicious treat is sure to leave you satisfied and instantly improve your mood.

If you wonder what could make a cupcake so crave-worthy you must check out sprinkles, you will not be disappointed. I dragged unbelieving friends to Sprinkles on St. Patrick's Day only to be greeted by a 45 min line, for cupcakes no less. My friends indulged me and waited in the line and after their first bite they were all converted.

Their cupcakes are worth the wait, but be warned likely there will be one, as their deliciousness is no secret.

  7. Upscale Italian Food!

Four of us went to Parmigiano Italian Bistro last night for dinner. We were immediately served a warm cheese bread with marinara sauce (complimentary). It was outstanding! We asked for more! We then ordered a Mozzarella salad to start. The mozzarella was very fresh and excellent! The tomatos served with the mozzarella were good as well - not tough. Each of us ordered different entrees. We had Chicken picata, Chicken Parm, Filet of Sole, and Pasta with clams in a white sauce. The dishes had fancier names than that, but I can't recall what they were. The portions were not overwhelming. They were just the right size, although the side of pasta served with the entree could be a bit bigger. We got about 8-9 pieces of penne with our entree. Not much. But the quality of the food was outstanding! We moved on to dessert. We had tiramisu that is made fresh on the premises. It was the best tiramisu we have had in years! You have to try it. The owner than served us complimentary amaretto at the end of the meal which was a very nice way to end our dinner. We found the service to be excellent and the atmosphere was very cozy. I would have to say this is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while.

  8. Spend A Day, Not A Fortune

After a great half - day hike in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve with Take A Hike Arizona, I headed to Spa Lamar. I had a massage scheduled with Jose. Definently request Jose! He was professional, nice and had great hands! Spa Lamar offers a resort style spa with prices that keep people coming back for more! It's open everyday. The spa features steam room, sauna, whirlpool, swimming pool, robes, lockers, tropical fruit and tea bar, along with massage, facials, body treatments, nail care, waxing, micro-dermabrasion, permanent make-up, hair salon, yoga and dance studio... I think I got it all. It's located 3 blocks north of Scottsdale Fashion Square. The owner of the spa, Heidi, was there making sure all the guests were enjoying their day. This was truely a perfect day. A fabulous hike on the mountain, then a relaxing day at the spa. I would recommend this to locals and tourists. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

  9. Fabulous food and atmosphere

If you want a trendy spot with the best seafood in town Wildfish has what you are looking for! Mathew McConaughey was recently seen dining here! Their fish is flown in fresh daily. The drinks are out of this world. They have quite the variety for the land and sea lovers. The service staff is very attentive.
