Good Eats to Scottsdale Airpark
Finally! A place in the Scottsdale airpark that has Breakfast, Lunch and soon Dinner with repeat excellence and friendly service! My first visit to Taylor's was during their opening week. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very friendly older gentleman - the owner's Dad - I came to find out. We asked him if he was Taylor and he chuckled and said no, that's Taylor, pointing to a beautiful picture of a young girl. He explained his son is the owner and named the restaurant after his daughter.
We arrived for lunch which consisted of homemade shrimp and corn chowder and a delightful grilled shrimp salad. Not only is their food delicious, but the portions are very healthy in their portions! A salad could feed two comfortably and a cup of soup is bigger than most place's bowl! Prices are very reasonable and the new place is clean and looks like it will remain clean, by the way the staff cares for it. Stop by and say hi to Taylor's Dad, you'll be pleasantly fed!

Wine tastings
There a lot of great wine places in the Valley - Postino's in Phoenix, Kaz bar in Scottsdale, etc. Su Vino Winery in downtown Scottsdale is one of my favorites. It's fairly new, but has a great environment without being stuffy. Wines are wonderful with a good selection of varietals. Pricing isn't bad either, especially if you just go for a wine tasting. Staff is what really makes this place different. They are all down to earth and treat customers with a lot of attention. You also can bottle your own wine, which I did for a birthday celebration for my husband. This is funfor larger groups since each batch makes 30 bottles, but unfortunately you can't do this if its just a few people.
My other favorite wine place is called Cave Creek Wines in north Phoenix on Cave Creek Road just north of Loop 101. They have wine tasting every Friday night, which is $10/person. Wine tastings are different every time, but a lot of fun. Seems there is a regular group that goes a lot so feels a bit like a family get-together. Place is really small though so you have to get there early to get a seat. Other great value for the price is that they serve food with the tastings - usually bread and olive oil, different cheeses, but then usually fruit, olives, and then some sort of meat or other heavier appetizer.

Great trail for dogs
The Lost Dog Wash trail is part of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It's easy to get to (not far from the Loop 101). The trail is a great trail for hikers and bikers, but also for taking your dog. I would definitely keep dogs on leashes (I think you have to by law), but also because of the terrain and potential for snakes during certain times of the year. It's absolutely gorgeous on this trail. I missed the wildflower season, but its still surprisingly green back in the preserve. Trail is moderate with lots of different connecting trails. You can make the trip short or probably spend all day going from one trail to the next. Facilities are good too with bathrooms at the trail head, drinking fountains, trash and recycle, and dog bags in case you forget one. You'll see lots of blue dog bags along the trail, but people are great about picking them up on their way back in. Seems to be accepted since people pick them up. Would highly recommend this trail, but not sure how it compares with some of the others in the preserve.

Most romantic resort in Scottsdale
I'm local, but have stayed in a lot of the luxury resorts in Scottsdale. Four Seasons is by far my favorite, especially for a romantic getaway. The rooms are large and comfortable, and they are luxurious without seeming pretentious. Staff is as good as you would expect. And, the surroundings by Pinnacle Peak Park are amazing, plus the views of the city really make you appreciate living in Arizona.

Creme Brulee to die for
This restaurant is no longer associated with Drinkwater, but was bought by the Mastro's group of restaurants. The food is great, but let's talk about the desserts. They have a lot of options to choose from, but my absolute favorite is the creme brulee. It's made with vanilla bean and is extremely creamy and decadent. Desserts are large so most people could probably share, but not me!

Glass art work
This is one of my favoriate galleries in downtown Scottsdale. While very small - ladies, don't bring large purses or you might knock something over - they have the most amazing glass art work. A local artist (I think her name is Carol) makes these bowls that have been weaved together with strings of glass. Amazing and the colors are always so beautiful!

A Happy Accident
Very tasty and hearty Southern Italian cuisine. We happened upon this restaurant accidently and enjoyed it very much. Quite large, with five or six rooms and mementos of Italy on every wall. Lively, fun place. We recommend it highly.

Good cook out food with a westerly charm!
I absolutely adore going to this place. It has a western feel to it. It's all picnic table seating. It has cook out food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese and so on......it's a nice place to hang out or get down. I definitely recommend taking a night off and heading to the west for a night.
