  1. The Best Place to Learn About Grand Canyon

The purpose of this place is to help visitors understand the complicated geology of the canyon. It does so with expansive views of the canyon behind large windows, and exhibits explaining the deposition of multiple rock layers, the uplift of the Colorado Plateau, and the carving of Grand Canyon There are also three-dimensional models, interpretive panels, photographs and videos to educate and entertain the visitor. A large topographic relief map is extremely helpful in comprehending the scale of the canyon. And the observation station has an excellent bookstore. Some ranger-led programs depart from here.

  2. Upgrade on the train to the Grand Canyon

An alternative, relaxing, albeit longer, trip to the Grand Canyon is via train from Williams, Arizona… on the Grand Canyon Railway. My family (a two year old, a 10 month old, a nine month old, four adults, and two grandparents) just went on our second trip on this train this week. The Grand Canyon Railway is an easy and relaxing way to cross Northern Arizona’s high desert without worrying about traffic or waiting in long lines to enter the park. It’s a little long for the kiddos... read the rest of this review/tip at OutWestRoadTrip.info

  3. Good food on the Rim

Most people go to the Grand Canyon to enjoy the view or hike the trails. But here’s another reason to make the trek: the Bright Angel Restaurant. It is part of the Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. When walking along the rim trail enjoying the popular overlooks, you’ll find the entrance to this delicious restaurant tucked behind the ice cream shop and souvenir store at the Bright Angel Lodge. The décor is distinctively southwestern and rustic with wooden beam ceilings and large windows along the side of the restaurant that borders the canyon. The food reflects these qualities.

  5. Don't miss this view

For all those "soft-adventurers" who come with little time this is the place to see and be at the Grand Canyon. The views are spectacular, the information center is relatively easy to reach. The center is open from 8am-5pm (8pm in summer) and offers information on the history of the building, the geology of the Grand Canyon etc.
This place is perfect for taking in sunset or sunrise - just remember that the station is not open at sunrise in summer and it can get a little bit chilly while you wait for the first rays of light. So dress in layers and bring water and snacks.

  6. Get your facts

Grand Canyon National Park offers several visitor's centers. This one is located a mile away from Market Plaza - take a walk or use the shuttle buses. From this visitor's center the South rim is just a short stroll away but the views are even better at Yavapai Observation Station.
