This place has something for everyone!
If you are on your way to or from the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, or Tucson Mountain Park, check out Cat Mountain Station, at 2740 S. Kinney Road, just outside the South entrance to Tucson Mountain Park. The complex is beautifully landscaped and includes a central courtyard with ramada and fountain. Coyote Pause Café is open for breakfast and lunch, and has a large breakfast menu, delectable sandwiches and salads, home-baked desserts and pastries, and arguably the best coffee in town. Seating is abundant, and there is a covered outdoor patio. The service is fast and very friendly, and everything I have eaten there has been good!
After you’ve eaten, check out the Cat Mountain Emporium, because this place is very cool. It’s a 3,000 square foot consignment store where you will find antiques, collectables, imported items, handcrafts, jewelry and new and used books. From new to 100 years old, from $1.00 to hundreds, that store has something for every taste and every budget. I think it would be hard for anyone to spend time in there and not find something they liked!
The whole atmosphere of the place is warm and friendly, You can sit in the little bookstore section of the Emporium and read a book and no one pressures you to buy it. There are two additional businesses: Studio S’Evans, an art gallery and custom frame shop that also carries handmade jewelry and unique handcrafted boxes, and RS Furniture, whose owners sell their finely crafted hand-wrought iron and wood furniture. A comprehensive Bead Store will soon be joining the other businesses in the complex.
Periodically from September to May the complex hosts Art and Craft fairs with the work of many local artists and craftspeople offered for sale. These events are a lot of fun, and live music and free snacks are usually a part of the event. All in all this is a fun and interesting place, and I recommend it highly.- 0 people found this review helpful
