Our Favorite Mexican Food in Flagstaff!!!

My husband and I have lived in Flagstaff for fifteen years and our favorite choice for dinner is Mexican food, so I definately rate ourselves as having experienced palettes for this type of cuisine. We've tried all the restaurants in Flagstaff several times over and El Capital Fresh Mexican Grill has become our favorite place.

We love their salsa bar with a variety of salsas made fresh every day. There are so many delicious tasting items on the menu that we love with great daily specials, like the tacos & beer, all at reasonable prices. The red sauce on their enchiladas is the best in town...hands down!!!

The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff is always friendly. They've got a treasure chest filled with kid's toys and it's just a very family-friendly restaurant.

I think anyone REALLY knows good Mexican food when they taste it should try this place if they haven't already. You'll definately go back for more. San Felipe and El Charro's Mexican food don't have anything on El Capitan in my opinion.

El Capitan is delicious!

No ther mexican food restaurant in Flagstaff offers a menu like this. They have several one-of-a-kind items like shrimp enchiladas with chipotle cream sauce, scallop taces and award-winning (seriously!) coconut battered shrimp with mango salsa. All delicious, but I am such a fan of their traditional menu items like cheese enchiladas and tacos. Another unique aspect is that they offer refried pinto OR black beans. It's nice to have a choice. The salsa bar is THE best in town. It is always fresh, with a great selection. My favorite is the smoked jalepeno salsa. Sometimes, we will just stop in for an ice cold Tecate and chips and salsa. You can't go wrong! The staff is really friendly, and the owner is always visible. You can find him cooking in the kitchen, seating people and he is always doing service and quality checks with customers. I highly recommend this, it is the best mexican food in town.

Not my kind of Mexican

I've eaten at El Capitan once and that will be it. I loved the way their menu looked and their salsa bar idea. But it just wasn't good tasting.
If Flag, I'd go downtown to San Felipe or to El Charro (esp for lunch specials) instead if you're in the mood for Mexican.
