  1. Authentic and Romantic French Dining in Cave Creek

One of the Valley's finest chefs for the past 40 years, Louis Germain, presides over his intimate French country restaurant, Le Sans Souci, gracioiusly attending to his guests. Louis is usually at the door to greet you or if not, stops by the table to make sure all is satisfactory. Le Sans Souci, translated to English means "carefree", which all my experiences over the years have been.

Louis' menu is traditional French cuisine with many dishes prepared tableside. The wonderful prix fixe brunch (under 25) includes appetizer, soup, choice of 10 entrees served with small portions of scalloped potato and fresh vegetables. I enjoyed the beef medallions in wine sauce, while my dining companion ordered the prawns. Both were tender and delicious, and we made our own "surf and turf". A generous glass of French champagne is included in the brunch as well as a choice of a beautiful French pastry and coffee or tea. To really be decadent, order Louis' chocolate souffle...magnificent. A prix fixe dinner is also available in the evening, or order a la carte.

Service was knowledgable; Shawn is particularly attentive and charming. When the weather is fine, seating is provided on a lovely patio shaded by a pretty blue awning and overlooking the mountains behind Le Sans Souci.

The drive north from Scottsdale on Pima Road is another delight. The Sonoran desert in full flower in the spring is breathtaking,as the road rises into the foothills. Sunsets are spectacular and drving down to the valley with the lights twinkling at dusk is beautiful. I think you will throughly enjoy a visit to this little corner of France in Cave Creek!
