Brings the Old West to Life
A block or so off the historic, blustling but 'touristy' and gaudy main street of Tombstone is the old Courthouse - now a State Park and museum. Its well worth a visit to bring the gritty reality of the old west to life. The museum occupies both floors of the Courthouse and tells the history and colorful events and characters of the late 1800s Tombstone. Complete with replica gallows and the original courtroom - where actors reinact historic trials, one of the most compelling part of the museum is its story of two original Arizona frontier woman - one a brothel owner and one a lawyer - their remarkable lives just two snippets that prove that West was not (entirely) a myth made up in Hollywood.
