  • Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady): Munich's icon

Build from 1468 to 1488 the Frauenkirche today still dominates the Munich skyline (and will continue to do so as a law prohibits building anything in downtown that are higher than the cathedral). With room for more than 20,000 people inside this is one of the largest churches in Germany. When you visit make sure to have a look at the Devil's Footstep. Legend has it that the devil stomped his foot leaving a footprint in the ground when he realized that from the spot he stood at none of the windows could be seen. The south tower can be ascended and offers a panoramic view of Munich and the Alps. Especailly worth it when you have a clear day!

  • The Proud Bird: Old birds, great view

Looking for a reasonable lunch location close to LAX? Look no further than the Proud Bird. Right in the approach path to LAX this restaurants seems to be from a different time (is it because of the vintage WWII aircraft in the backyard or because the interior still seems to be the original 60s decor?). In any case the food is decent and with lunch specials for less than $10 you can not complain. A great place to come with kids who can watch one plane after the other fly by right in front of the window.
