1. Hi Corbett Field: Great way to spend the afternoon

   There are few better or more cost effective way to spend an afternoon than at a Cactus League game. When spring training comes to Arizona it provides the perfect reason / excuse to take the afternoon off and enjoy American's pastime at a much reduced cost. While it is true that all the starters may not play you will get to see most of them. Hi Corbett field is great because all the seats have backs, which makes it much more comfortable however they are mostly bleachers so I suggest bringing a pad to sit on. The only downfall of this field is that there are no grass seats available. Also there is free parking, but give yourself some time to get there as these games draw a crowd so traffic builds up.

2. Sprinkles Cupcakes: Frosted perfection

   There are few things more perfect than a Sprinkles red velvet cupcake. This moist and delicious treat is sure to leave you satisfied and instantly improve your mood. If you wonder what could make a cupcake so crave-worthy you must check out sprinkles, you will not be disappointed. I dragged unbelieving friends to Sprinkles on St. Patrick's Day only to be greeted by a 45 min line, for cupcakes no less. My friends indulged me and waited in the line and after their first bite they were all converted. Their cupcakes are worth the wait, but be warned likely there will be one, as their deliciousness is no secret.

3. Beyond Bread: Delicious cakes, cookies, brownies and sandwiches too

   If you have a sweet tooth make sure to stop at the bakery counter of Beyond Bread in Tucson. Don't get me wrong the sandwiches are delicious too and there are plenty to choose from, all served on fresh baked bread, but the treats just look too good to skip, and they are. This is a great place for a leisurely lunch with friends, plenty of outdoor seating too.

4. Blue Willow: Breakfast worth waiting for

   If you go to Blue Willow on the weekend be prepared to wait for a table, but it will be worth the extra effort. In fact, the fine people at Blue Willow have even provided a gift shop in which to wait for a table, so the is plenty to look at and multiple opportunities to buy more than just breakfast. The most difficult part of a trip to Blue Willow id deciding what to order, however everything is great, so do not fret too much. When in doubt just look around, likely someone at a neighboring table will have a dish that is exactly what you are craving. Regardless of how much you eat while at the table do not leave without purchasing one of their delicious baked treats, even if you take it to go. If you leave without anything you will regret that decision at some point through out the day.

5. Alfredo Authentic Italian Restaurante: Incredible Italian

   This is a great place to celebrate being in Sydney. The staff will spoil you and the food is rich, perfectly prepared and worth remembering. This restaurant was recommended by a flight attendant that spends a lot of time in Australia and she never leaves Sydney without have Alfredo's lobster ravioli. Tip: no need for the full portion as the dishes are very rich and you will want to save room for dessert.

6. Backpackers Hostel: Location, location, location

   When traveling in Australia with friends we waited to reserve our hostel rooms until we had a chance to survey other travelers for their recommendations. Without a doubt the over whelming Sydney favorite in terms of a hostel was the Backpackers Hostel. Their location is fantastic, an easy walk to Darling Harbor and the staff makes certain that you have a great time. If a pub crawl is offered during your stay, make sure to attend. It is great way to meet fellow travelers and see multiple bars in a single night. Additionally, the hostel is clean and cheery, has large lockers for your backpacks and bright/ large bathrooms. Our only regret about backpackers was that we did not stay longer.

7. AJ's Fine Foods: How do you like them apples?

   If you are looking for the best apples in Southern Arizona, look no further than AJ's fine foods. Don't get me wrong there are many treats at AJ's, most of which are much fancier and more gourmet than an apple, but their selection of this simple and classic fruit will leave you pleasantly surprised. As a native from the Pacific Northwest I was something of an apple snob when I moved to Arizona. Then I was introduced to AJ's apples and knew that I did not have to be home to enjoy one. Just think if something as simple an apple from AJ's is worthy of such praise you can only imagine their other offerings. Don't even get me tarted on their bakery, I have been known to forgo lunch in favor of a piece of the delicious chocolate cake. Trust me the next time you want to treat yourself take a trip to AJ's.

8. Arizona Mills: Designer goods that won't break the bank

   When it comes to outlet shopping there is nothing better than Arizona Mills in Tempe. Not only is the mall enormous but it is full of the stores that you actually want to shop. My personal favorite is the Neiman Marcus outlet, which has racks and racks of discounted jeans, shoes and purses. Not to mention the fabulous cocktail dresses, which are so cheap that warrant the purchase even if you do not have a specific function coming up. This mall makes it easy to spoil yourself because you will leave with full shopping bags and money left in your wallet. Feel free to make a day of it and eat at one of the many restaurants on site and catch a movie before you leave.

9. Vivace: Amazing night out

   For the best night out you need to look no further than Vivace. Amazing Italian food with a great atmosphere. You cannot order incorrectly here as every item on the menu is fantastic. When I lived in Tucson after a bad day, good day or for any celebration it was a given that we were headed to Vivace. For those friends or family that are not easy to impress take the to Vivace even the harshest critics will find it nearly impossible to find something to complain about. Whatever you do make sure that you save room for dessert as it lives up to the rest of the meal, which seals the deal in making this a perfect meal.

10. Changes Boutique: Dresses worthy of an event

    Changes Boutique sells fabulous dresses, and also has the best sales in town. A word of warning though if you are looking for a great dress be prepared to fall in love if you visit Changes, however it might not be cheap. Betsy Johnson, ABS among others fill the store and will inspire you to splurge or perhaps even go into party planning mode. If you do not have a reason to buy a party dress perhaps you will decide to throw your own, the perfect dress has inspired crazier actions. The clothes are reason enough to go, but the friendly staff will keep you coming back. After one trip it is as though you are old friends, not pushy, but the perfect kind of help. Happy Shopping!
